Doesn’t it seem like ages since Maroon 5 released an album? Maybe it’s just because I’m always excited by new music. In any case, I was very excited to learn that new Maroon 5 music was coming. As it turns out, this album was released today. Jordi is dedicated to Maroon 5’s late band manager, Jordan Feldstein, who died unexpectedly in 2017.

I’m going to go through each song on Jordi one by one, and then give my overall impression of the album. I’m not reviewing any of the Deluxe versions at this time, but if anyone is interested in hearing my opinion on them, let me know!

1. “Beautiful Mistakes” ft. Megan Thee Stallion

This isn’t one of my favorite Maroon 5 songs, but it isn’t bad, either. The “not holding on, not holding on, not holding on” sections are very emotional, and I appreciate that.

2. “Lost”

Lost is one of my favorite modern Maroon 5 songs. It is smooth and powerful all at the same time. It’s a testament to how magically love can change a person’s life.

3. “Echo” ft. Blackbear

This track sounds a bit too much like a Blackbear song. It has a redeeming theme and some cool parts, though.

4. “Lovesick”

This one is really fun. It captures that melancholy lovesick feeling very well. It’s upbeat at the same time.

5. “Remedy” ft. Stevie Nicks

“Remedy” is a very rousing track and a good choice for these times. The Stevie Nicks feature gives it an irresistible throwback feel.

6. “Seasons”

This was my least favorite track on the album, to be honest. It has cool lyrics, but it doesn’t feel like Maroon 5 at all.

7. “One Light” ft. Bantu

“One Light” is another timely tune, and one of my favorites on the album. The Bantu feature is also very enjoyable. It has a bit of a “Locked Away” feel.

8. “Convince Me Otherwise” ft. H.E.R.

This track is more subdued than some of the others, and H.E.R. features very prominently. That being said, it is a beautiful and chill song that I will come back to again and again.

9. “Nobody’s Love”

I never understood why this song didn’t get…wait for it….nobody’s love. It certainly didn’t hit the popularity peaks of “Beautiful Mistakes,” and I can’t think of a good reason why. To me, it was the song of Summer 2020. It’s just got Maroon 5 written all over it, and the soft electro beats are magical.

10. “Can’t Leave You Alone” ft. Juice WRLD

I only like this track slightly more than “Seasons.” I like the lyrics but not the sound. The posthumous Juice WRLD feature is a nice tribute.

11. “Memories” Remix ft. Nipsey Hussle and YG

I prefer the original version of “Memories,” but the posthumous feature of Nipsey Hussle is interesting. Enough of the original sound and vibe are present to enjoy this track and its message of keeping hope and happiness through grief.

Overall Impression

Overall, this album is very emotional and utilizes a variety of sounds, some experimental and some more classically Maroon 5. I will listen to many of these tracks for years to come, but some I may never turn on again. That’s just me, though. It’s definitely worth a listen from beginning to end so you can form your own opinion!
