If you know anything about MIKA, you know he’s an international celebrated pop star. What you may not know, however, is just how multicultural he and his music are. I’m going to cover some of my favorites to help any readers expand their horizons and appreciate MIKA for his range and interesting music career.
1. “Domani”
I always cover this Italian track as one of my favorite songs of all time, which surprises some people. I’m not sure if I prefer it or “Tomorrow,” but one thing’s for sure: both songs have inspired me and have a fantastic sound.
2. “Live Your Life”
“Live Your Life” makes this list because of its Spanish section and its use in a San Miguel beer commercial/music video. It’s extremely fun and upbeat!
3. “Stardust” feat. Chiara
Here’s a gorgeous bilingual track featuring English and Italian—as well as the lovely vocals of Chiara. This song gives me the chills with its beauty and grandeur.
4. “J’ai Pas Envie”
We’re getting into MIKA’s fantastic French songs now! This one is clever in a way that only MIKA knows how to be. Look up its lyrics to see what I mean (if you don’t speak French).
5. “L’amour Dans Le Mauvais Temps”
This song is a beautiful, gentle track that has unfortunately never been released outside of France. Words can’t describe it; I thought it was wonderful before I even knew what MIKA was singing.
6. “Me, Myself” — Danna Paola and MIKA
This was a fairly recent collaboration that features English and Spanish lyrics in perfect harmony. It has all the making of a great 2020’s pop song with a unique twist to its sound.
7. “Un Soleil Mal Luné”
This is another France-only track that the whole world should hear. It’s beautiful like “L’amour dans le mauvais temps,” but in a different, more classical way.
8. “Elle Me Dit”
What list of MIKA songs would be complete without this staple?! (Well, I’ve written a few, so maybe I’d better not ask that question). This track can be heard in Pitch Perfect 3 and is among MIKA’s greatest French hits.
9. “Boum Boum Boum”
Some people may be shocked by the lyrics of “Boum Boum Boum,” which was featured in the film Spy. I’m a Maroon 5 fan, so its themes are right at home for me.
10. “Les Baisers Perdus”
My niece almost fell asleep to this track the first time she heard it—in a good way, of course. It’s very relaxing and has an all-around lovely sound.
